Question 2000 Yukon Won't Start

I got into the vehicle, started it, waited for my wife to buckle in our son, then put it in reverse only to have it die on me. Upon trying to restart, I noticed that the "low fuel" sensor was on and the fuel guage was pegged past empty....almost like it was not working at this point. I knew I had gas because I just filled up and the trip read only 104 miles. However, to get the wife to "put a lid on it", I jogged my happy ass up to the gas station and got some fuel to put in the tank. Turned on the ignition, and noticed that the fuel guage didn't reflect the new addition of fuel.....it was still pegged below empty. The car cranks but doesn't start. Could this be a fuse or relay in the fuse center, or is this the dreaded fuel pump every one talks about?

Thanks for all your help,

Mike

Re: 2000 Yukon Won't Start

Mike, there may be a connection as the fuel sending unit and the fuel pump both are electrical and in the tank.
You can either have the dealer do the diagnosis procedures using the tech II computer to send commands and check results, or do some fuse checkout and wire tracing.
Would you be the one dropping the gas tank if it was the pump?
There are more than 10 pages of diagnostic procedures, here are some highlights:
Fuses INJR A INJR B ECM I
Any BCM VTD DCTs? (Body Control Module Vehicle Theft Deterrent Diagnostic Trouble Codes)
ECT on scan tool correct? (Engine Coolant Temperature)
MAF / IAT sensor (Mass Air Flow / Intake Air Temperature)
IGN relay
Fuel pump relay
Fuel pump fuse
PCM (Powertrain Control Module)
Please let us know, what you find.
Take care, Eggert

Thanks! It was the ECM that was blown. Sorry it took so long to post back.

Thanks again!

Mike
