Re: 2001 chevy blazer{anti thief code for radio}
these codes are set by the owner. To my knowledge there are no over ride codes. Best bet is to contact the previous owner and cross your fingers. Sorry for the bad news.

Re: 2001 chevy blazer{anti thief code for radio}
The dealer can over ride it. They just push a few buttons and the radio will give them a four digit code. Then they look up the four digit code to get an override code. There can't be a single master override code for all radios, because it would defeat the purpose of putting security in them. Thieves would know the code in no time.

I don't know if this still is valid, but it worked for me last time i tried
press the 2 & 3 numbers at the same time for about 10 seconds; a 2 or 3 digit code will come up; press the am/fm button for about 10 seconds; another code will appear; dial 1-800-537-5140 and enter 201208 (dealer code) followed by the # sign; enter the 4 or 6 digit code from your radio followed by an *; the automated setup will give you a 3 or 4 digit override code; enter this code into your radio just as your owners manual tells you to |

Here is another tip: If you're you're a dumby like me you're first instict was to attempt to guess the code - if you do that a few times the radio will lock up on you, and from then on, everytime you try to enter a code you will get the InOP signal. You will need to leave the ignition engaged for 1 hour before you're able to enter a code again (some have suggested you need to have it locked for exactly one hour - so that's what I did). The Blazer AutomotiveForum saves me money again... the local dealership wanted $42.50 to do it... claiming it would require one half hour of labor! |
