SII; Episode III: Dooms Day Weekend

Just when you think you are coming up on the food chain, you get put in place, and that once bright light you saw just before your eyes becomes dim. Not a great weekend at all. But I'm sure by this point you are probably dying to hear what happened. Here goes:

Jonny had just come up for the weekend from Southern Utah. Last time he was with me, all I had was I/H/E. So he was up for a trip in the Civ for a good run up on State. So we took the Freeway up to Orem. Along the way, Johnny took notice to a black Jetta getting on the Freeway. All I heard was "Whoa the Jetta looks good". I glance over and took notice myself. Nothing special too me (Johnny doesn't see much down south).

So the Jetta driver took notice that we were looking over at him. I look down at the Speedo and see I'm at 70 mph. Perfect. The Jetta slowly came up as I downshifted to 3rd. As soon as he came close, I looked over, he honked down, 3rd Honk. I was gone, came to 100 and I just kept it that way, there wasn't very much traffic a few cars at around 9 pm at night. I looked back, and about 5 cars I see the Jettas headlights. I stayed at a 100 and continued up to Orem. Good way to start up the night and pump up the EGO a bit.

We finally hit State. And what do you know. Just what I had been wanting to attack since the installs. We turn left onto State St. What lied ahead of me is what I had been searching for. Took note of the exhaust could be more modded than I thought. Under the taillight the DOHC Badge. GS-R. I pull up along side of it, look at the passenger and to my surprise, my buddy Jeff sat in the passenger seat. He glanced over and hopped a little in surprise. We had ourselves a little convo and then I asked for a race. He looked to the driver, and then I hear the downshift and the high winding of the exhaust. Excellent...

45 mph. I looked to Jeff, he smiles and counts down. Three! Two! One!! GGGRRRRRMMMMMMMMRRRRRRRR!!! 3rd, just as I suspected still even. I take a quick glance over and hear that car open up as it gets into the higher rpm's and at the moment I realized he was messing around with me. That grunt I heard just a moment ago became louder, and without a blink of my eye he pushed ahead, me still flooring it getting left behind. We came at the next stop light. Curious to know WTH just slaughtered me I asked, "What ya got done!?".

Drivers response, "I/H/E" . Total BS. Nothing I could do though. I just waved and Jonny and I turned around. Cruised a bit more. Soon enough, my phone rings. Whatya know. Old Shmiguel. We talked for a bit, I told him we were cruising. Soon enough he wanted to meet up. So I told him I would stay up on State for a while longer. About 10 mins later he caught up to us. We turned around one more time as we had reached the other end of State when he caught up. Miguel had a somewhat loaded car. Miguel drives a 96 Maxima with a 98 motor in it (auto). The last I saw he just had Intake on his Max.

Feeling pretty confindent I wanted to take a few rounds with him. The first round I was at 30mph, 2nd gear and I was a low RPM's. Jonny counted down, we took off, and we stayed even and again, once 3rd came he took me out. I slowed down, he came drifting back and I asked for a 45 mph roll. He nodded. Once again, count down, we took off. This time I got a much better leap, pulled on him nearing the end of 3rd gear, and once fourth came he caught back up and left me again. We soon left State after that. Just went and hung out for a while. Nothing special. I did pester Miguel what he had done, but he didn't ever tell me. So I'm clueless to what he has done.

Well, the highlight was when I finally raced that GS-R. I was sure to do a much better job against him if he really had what he said he did. Well, soon enough I'll get my race against a nearly stock one. That's all I want and then I'll be happy if I do beat one. Otherwise, the hunt is still on and I don't plan on giving up. Well atleast until the Civ does anyway. Pretty fun night. But now I know my place. Like I said, you just don't know what's out there. Just when things are starting to look great, you are surely put into place. Atleat Jonny enjoyed the ride. Oh well. Wasn't really a dooms day weekend, but just a snazzy title. Meh. Enjoy! L8...

Re: SII; Episode III: Dooms Day Weekend

Probably around a 17 sec 1/4. I wouldn't bother testing it. Wouldn't be worth the embarrassment to find out. But someone has I'm sure. As for now, that's pretty good to shave off nearly 2 seconds. I guess anyway. But this is all I'm going to do with this motor as of now. All I'm gonna do is save up until this motor dies out. L8...

u should have a vr6 rematch...now that ur car is out of the 18's

find that jetta that beat you and see if u can take him down. the worst racing experince of my life was when i lost to a turbo civic (in the gti), so i'm sure the jetta driver will feel the same way. what kind did u race on the freeway?

don't worry about the gsr. they're nothin w/o their v-tec...o wait, nvm

seriosuly, im joking. ur car sounds like it's pretty quick now. maybe you should race ur dad's 3kgt. see what happens.

good luck.

Yep. It's super secretive. Only the coolest people can know my secret...hehe. Actually the my first time ever at the track, it really sucked. But, I'll say it again. I just took it as a learning experience. Kris knows how it all went down.

As for where I race. It's mostly known for the all show no go kids. Every now and then you find yourself a good race. I love seeing the faces of those who I beat. The surprise of a so called 17 sec Civic beating them. I love it. I wouldn't really say my car is a "sleeper", but it gets the job done for me at this point. But as I said, there are a lot of douches here in Utah that don't know how to race. Meh...

gti1689, that Jetta I raced happened to have the emblem on the back that said "TREK". I don't know much about it, or haven't even heard of it for that matter, maybe you have. As for the VR6, I've been dying to race a few of those myself. There's only two here in the valley that I know of that have some mods in them. A red and black one. They are on my hit list as of now. So who knows, I'm very sure I'll meet up with them soon enough. L8...

Good luck with the VR6 man. I saw one a few nights back, reved a few times, and he smiled, but pointed at his woman friend ridding shotgun and shook his head.

Re: SII; Episode III: Dooms Day Weekend

He punked out because his woman was shotty? Man, if my woman (when I ever meet one) doesn't like racing atleast somewhat, I'd kick her to the curb. Well, I usually do see those VR6's almost every weekend. There's no doubt in my mind that I will find one of them this next up coming weekend. I should try and get a camera soon. It would be well worth it. L8...

If it said Trek it was prob a 2.0 which is one of the slowest cars on earth. I should know my gti is a 2.0 and I got beat last weekend by a ZX2. I almost cried but then I thought about how my turbo gets put on next Monday. Then there will be a rematch.
