AHHH... Desicions!

Damnit...

Ok Ive been thinking on this now for a while what do you think of this.
S13 (real no clip conversion) or an FD3S both are importable very easily and Im trying to decide which of the 2 to get.

Re: AHHH... Desicions!

How are they importable very easily? It'd be at least fifteen grand to get either one stateside and fully legal. Of the two, I'd rather have the FD, though.

FD3S no doubt but are you willing to pay the extra money and do the extra work for that money. this really just matters on what you can actually afford without stressing yourself, right?

Re: AHHH... Desicions!

$14,000 for an FD3S with 38K miles sounds reasonable, but realize that to be able to drive it legally in New York, you're gonna have to get it to pass a whole host of safety and emissions regulations that it didn't have to in Japan. It's gonna cost a lot of money to do that, and you'll probably end up spending more like twenty grand if you import one. You're getting off buying a gently used 1993-1995 USDM FD.

and that sounds about right as the car retails in Japan for not much, it gets shipped over to NY for about $3-4000, after that there's tarrifs, then making the vehicle compliant would make up the balance. So I think $14,000 would work.

But anyway get the FD, it's Japans best FR chassis ever. The S13's (If you mean the Silvia, which I take it you do) are rubbish and vastly over-rated, unless you want to go drifting, in which case they're pretty damn good, but the S14 models are far improved where being a better all-round car is concerned.

Re: AHHH... Desicions!

I have a hard time believing that an FD3S with 38K miles that isn't busted up pretty badly would go for much less than $14,000. What model year was it made in?

Re: AHHH... Desicions!

FD3S, without a doubt. If you find that you can't afford it down the line, you can always sell it and probably get more than what you paid for it

Re: AHHH... Desicions!

Oh, it's a '94. That'd explain it. I assumed that since it had such low miles, it was a newer, late 90's model, but then I remembered that all the laws and regulations in Japan encourage you to buy a new car every 40,000 miles or so.
