First Gen/Second Gen ??

Ok the 94 black RT/TT i was looking at got sold *bastard* but the same day it sold a 91 red vr4 came up for sale already modded and same price. I know in 93 the changed to the 4 bolt block, and reinforced all the thing mentioned in the FAQ. So my ? is does it really make that big of a differnce. Or will i be able to push my car just like i would have that one. The mods include a boost controller, boost gauge, downpipe, and a few other things.

Re: First Gen/Second Gen ??

Well i'm no expert on the subject but from what i've seen on here as long as you're not talking about upgrading the turbos/injectors/pump you should be just fine with the BPU's.

Re: First Gen/Second Gen ??

If i do go that route it would be awhile. I'd defintly be content with downpipe, boost, exhaust and stuff. Also i never hear of nebody putting a chip in teh VR4, RT/TT just no use for it? or somthing jsut not worth the money to do it.

Re: First Gen/Second Gen ??

Yeah also just from what i've heard there's really no reason for it.

Re: First Gen/Second Gen ??

There is no chip that works on the 3000gt/stealths. There is something that costs alot and was available in Japan or something. I don't recall the name, and only heard of 2 people using it, so I don't know much about that. But for practical purposes, it is sufficient to say there isn't a chip for us.

The 1st gen engines can easily handle BPU, and there are plenty that handle much more. It is just something to be aware about if you plan to push 500hp in the future.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Re: First Gen/Second Gen ??

I just planned on sticking with those mods and pretty much those only. Interior mods would be bout the only other plan for me. What bout piggy back chips? I know they usally aren't very good. Or i guess a Stand Alone system but still tahts alot of money and you need the know how that i don't know. But i'll post up a pic later she's buetiful now only if this one will stay in place till i get the money.

Re: First Gen/Second Gen ??

There are plenty of piggybacks that work, but they aren't chips...any of the electronics that allow you to tune air/fuel and/or timing are piggybacks. And there is the AEM EMS standalone ecu...these are all things that work just fine. I was refering to actual 'chips'.

Re: First Gen/Second Gen ??

Yah but i figured if they were just a few of those maybe there would some kind of other options to alter air/fuel ratio and other things. But if its not really worth then forget it. If i can get that one and its in good running order i'll stick with it and just mod the interior like i said.
