Tamiya TS Clear color

When will Tamiya's clear color lacquers (TS-71, 72, 73, 74) going to be available in the US? I have some ideas for them, and I am wondering if it'd be faster to wait for them to be available here, or to order them from Japan? Plus, I don't want to order any kits from HLJ just to justify shipping. Any word? I guess I should have asked earlier - someone might have been able to grab me a can from Tamiyacon....

Re: Tamiya TS Clear color

Well they are avalaible in Canada. So it must be in USA.

I have the TS-71 Smoke.. Very tricky paint.. you really have to make it very even. The smallest change in paint and it look terrible.

Re: Tamiya TS Clear color

Did you get it from your LHS or mail order? I plan to decant it and use it in my airbrush, so I should be able to control it ok. I will practice a lot first, though.

Re: Tamiya TS Clear color

I got it from my crappy LHS !! if he have it, everyone have it

Seriously, I know his distributor is from USA, so you should have them. He have the full line untill ts-76

I tried the Smoke paint on carobon decal. got not so bad result, but it's very hard to get even color. (i'm not a bad painter normally, but this one gave me problem)

Re: Tamiya TS Clear color

GSI Creos (nee Gunze Sangyo) already make a range of tinted clear lacquers in bottles. If you can find them they might be a better option for airbrushing.

You can already find TS clear colors in the USA in the R/C line, but they work just fine.

I don't like Gunze's clear red, it's too pinkish-red for tail light use.

I've switched to using a red Sharpie for taillights, much easier, less mess, dries almost immediately. Two coats and it's a lot better than Tamiya clear red. I wish the orange sharpie came separately, not in a big set of colors I don't want.

Using clear sprays for signal/tail lights would result in a very low success rate and a very high paint waste rate. Those are only good for larger projects like tinting body paint jobs.
