TBI question

how well would a chevy 307 motor with a TBI on top of it? I know I should just get a 350 but im 17 now and am "parentally restricted". Right now I've got a 305 and its just not doin it for me. And as far as I can tell the 307 is a high reving motor and im planning to put a manual in my car soon as the 700r4 that in there now has 140000 on it and im expecting that it will die sometime soon. So it should work well for a fun thing to drive. I'd put a carb on it but that could very well wipe out my gas mileage of ~18 per gal. I'm not looking for massive power, though it would be nice, just something better than what I got. The other half of the puzzle is can I get a prom made for a 307 and the components that are currently on the motor which are a mild edelbrock cam, and edelbrock intake. opinions postive or negative are welcome. Thanks.
