new electric fuel pump not working !!!

I have wrote an earlier thread about my 89 Toyota 4x4 22re will turn over but won't start.I installed a new fuel filter (old one was full of crud).Tried to start it and it would turn over but would not start. Then I took out the gas tank and removed the fuel pump to test it.Put it in water and hooked it up to my battery charger at 12 volts. It ran but was not pumping anything out.So I did the same thing to a new pump and it pumped the water out very strong. So i installed new fuel pump and still no start.I opened fuel line comming into the fuel filter and turned the engine over, nothing came out.So now Iturn over the engine and can't hear the new pump working. Then I checked the plug at the harness with a test light and nothing. Can anyone help me out with this??? Please...Thank you.

Re: new electric fuel pump not working !!!

The problem as you have found is electrical. What I would do now is get a set of wiring diagrams from the ECU controls to the related circuts of the fuel system. Your problem is most likely, if the fuse is not blown, a sensor that is not working properly or an open in the circut. I assume you checked the fuse and relays to the EFI system but if the fuse is blown there is a short in the circut. And finally if the relays are shot then that would cause the now power problem.

To fix this problem, you need to get a manual from a book or a online manual that will give you the best troubleshooting steps that help you with this problem and a multimeter will help you beter than a test light.
