Window Problems
I have a 99 Civic EX coupe with windows that are really messed up. They roll really slowly, particularly the driver side window. Also the rubber molding around the window has become all malformed. The molding often gets caught up in the closing windows, and the windows will often actually roll up so that the window tip is outside of the molding. This causes the cabin to be filled with wind and super-noisy. When this happens, I have to keep rolling the window up and down, little by little, or even leave it a little open to keep the wind from blowing so loudly through the car. Where should I go and how much should I expect to spend on fixing this problem. Do normal autoglass places do this kinda thing? Will new aftermarket molding really cut out the wind and noise? Hope so.

my guess is the channel is shot. you can check it out here...

Ok so here is the issue i had with my car. Kinda a pain in the ass. I did some research on my car. I have a 97 ex model. Apparently my model was "bulletin boarded" which means that it wasn't a recall, but it was noted by honda that the window regulator failed after some time, mainly the driver side window. The failure of the window regulator would make the window go off alignment with the window channels and not roll up all the way. The way I resolved it was that i had to buy a new window regulator with new channels and have Honda put it in. The problem with it, is that honda charged 300 for the job. Well that's my issue that i had with my window, so i hope this helps

Thanks. This definitely help. Sounds like this is what going on. Sux that it's so expensive to fix.
What about the molding though? Won't I still have to replace that after the regulator and channel?

Yeah you might want to buy the weather stripping or molding that goes around your window if that's messed up too. If your gonna fix it, might as well do everything and be safe about it.

Is this road noise thing a common problem. If I just get new channel (the molding lip thing that goes around the top of the window). Will that at least keep the wind out. Mine don't look worn, so I wonder if they ever kept the air out. Maybe it's just the way civics are.

Does your window fall off track? Cuz if it keeps coming off track you will have to take it somewhere to have it put back on...but the problem with mine was that mine kept falling off. So i took it back to honda cuz it was on warranty from the last time i fixed it. That's when they told me i need a new regulator. I wouldn't buy new channels unless you know that your regulator is ok. Because if you buy new channels and ur regulator just keeps throwing ur window off, your just gonna ruin new channels and eventually replace them again. I dont know what the road noise is... Is it just wind coming into ur window...can you take any pics? It would help if i saw what the prob was. But yeah is your window falling off track?
