Golly I thought you were. . .
DRW you, 12 Oz. Wiswind, etc, apparently WE (Y'all) are the moderators. We (Youze) are abled bodied mechanics who are intreagued enough by this machinery we call Windstar, to keep this thing going. Ignore all the Windstar Sux crap, (1/3 of the posts), answer all the genuine questions by novices (me, 1/3 of the posts), and enjoy what you've created (Hard core answers to difficult problems - 1/3 of the posts). And THANK YOU ALL for all you've taught me about my wifes (our) favorite means of transportation. My current dillema is that we can afford something newer than our "95, 3.8, 158K (miles)" but she is sensible enought to say "Can't we fix it enough for one more trip? (2000 mile vacation) The kids love that car." And they do. My 10 yr old wants to "save MOM's car". (We drove that kid home in IT, when he and the car were brand new) KUDOS . . to you all.

Re: Moderator
Hi all -
Sorry to resurrect an old thread. So... Do we know who has moderator privileges on the Windstar forum? Recently, I've pointed several folks to the remarkably useful isolator bolt procedure here: http://www.leckemby.net/windstar/windstar01.html, as well as wiswind's excellent '96 Windstar picture collection here: http://community.webshots.com/album/201931518cScpNK But I also recognize that active threads on these topics will get older, and harder for new members to find quickly. So they spend time stumbling through searches, and asking the same questions that have already been answered. I believe moderators have the privileges required to create "sticky" threads that stay at the top of the forum list (yes, I checked the FAQ; this topic isn't covered). I believe we need a "sticky" thread to cover these commonly-asked Windstar questions, and to make sure links to useful items are always easy to find. If you're not sure what I mean by "sticky" threads, take a look at the Toyota MR2 forum here: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...play.php?f=446; they've got several that are used to handle common questions. This would also be a great opportunity to develop new procedures for other common questions (thermostats seem to be popular lately). Well-documented procedures, even for fairly simple jobs, are a great way to encourage new members who might otherwise be afraid to take on a repair the rest of us consider to be easy. I've found this forum to be very useful. After solving several problems on my van, I've come to the conclusion that the Windstar is a competent and under-appreciated minivan - once certain issues are understood and dealt with. Yes, I wish Ford would pay more attention some details the first time around (like isolator bolts), but this forum can help all owners keep their vans running great with minimal hassle. So... Who has moderator privileges? |

Re: Moderator
I do not know who the moderator is......
Thermostats, heater blend doors, batteries, and electrical connections are a couple of things that really show their heads when the weather gets cold. |

Re: Re: Moderator
Great ideas!
For example, I've skimmed through a few heater blend door discussions, but haven't had the problem (yet...). But if I do, I'll have to wade back through them to figure out what I really need to know to fix the problem. It's been a common-enough issue that we could surely come up with a nice procedure that could be posted in a place everyone can easily reference in the future.

Re: Moderator
Hi Phil,
Sorry to change topics but I noticed that you own an 86 Mustang GT. I do too. Are you the original owner? Is is in good condition? What sort of milage? What colour?....... Perhaps we should move to email but I would love to discuss the Stangs. |
