97 jetta vr6 idling problem

hey
my girlfriend and i have a 97 jetta vr6 she drove it in the rain one day and afterthat it was idling funny almost like a miss fire. the coil was arking out. so i put a used coil thats good and new wires and the car ran again but it idlies at about 600rpm and is hard to start onces its raning and you start driveing the throttle responce is sloppy until about 3000 and after drive a bit you'll let off the gas and the car is jerky so you'll push in the clutch and the rpms drop to about 1200 and jump up to 3000 it will do this untill you rap the throttle once. and the check engine light is on.

idle problem

I have an early 99 2.0 l which would stall sometimes when it was raining. Then it started idling really rough and as soon as you put it in gear it would stall. I found a big hole in the molded breather hose and another in the small rubber hose which connects it to the PCV. Once I replaced those hoses the rain didn't affect it anymore. I found that the rough idle was caused by what I assume was a sticking fuel pressure regulator because when I disconnected the vacuum hose the idle came back up. I ran some STP fuel system cleaner through it and everything is fine.
