i am the unfortunate owner of a 1998 grand prix gt...whos lights will not go off..the abs, check tire pressure and trac off lights have been coming on...noticed they would come on when i accelerated and heard a click at the same time....took it to a transmission place they scanned it and said it was the left front wheel...next up new tire rods were put in ....lights were still coming on....diagnostics still indicating the left front wheel, so then onto a new hub assebly for the left front wheel and alas the lights have come back on yet again shortly after picking up the car...any other ideas as to what might be causing this problem would be greatly appreciated!

well heres my guess. Did you reset the computer? Yellow button under dash. If you did it might be one of the sensors in the front left. Make sure all the little sensor plugs in the wheel well aren't broken, loose, dirty. If that doesn't work take it the dealership or ignore it.

Did they replace the sensor when they replaced the hub? Some come with a new sensor and some don't. I have it on good authority from a GM tech that those sensors usually go to sh!t when they are removed from the old hub. If the sensor is not reading right your ABS will not function - Normal brakes fine.

well its been over a week now and magically the lights have gone off....the mechanic seems to think it was the wheel hub and sensor replacement that took care of the problem..it just took a few drives after to get the lights off...they think the problem dated back to being stuck in the snow this past winter....maybe that will help! |
