clutch linkage

I recently got a sweet deal on a 83 chevy s10 4x4 the people that had it before me change'd the motor and bolted moter to transmission and all that jazz and could'nt get any farther. I bought it for 200 bucks figured could'nt go wrong on 200 bucks for a 4x4. But anyhow they took a motor from a 86 s10 blazer and put it in the truck. All I have to do now is hook all the wire and such up. Now I have got it running and everything hook'd up. Except the clutch linkage. I have bought the chiltons manual and cant find the info i need. I have went to junk yards and look'd at other s10's but they are not the same. All of the one's I have look'd at had a hydrolic clutch or just a strait rod to engage the clutch. Mine has a plastic coated steel cable that go's thru the fire wall to the lever's out under the hood that engage the clutch. Is there some where I can find a diagram of how this should all hook up?? What I have now I got it all hook'd up but there appears not to be enough tention to take up all the cable I have under the dash. I push the clutch peddle and I get nothing. Help me if ya can!! thanks in advance
