Looking for Quiet Performance Muffler

Its been a looong time and i dont think any of you remember me at all. lol. Anyways, i have a magnaflow performance muffler model 14809 but i am not too happy with the sound it puts out when I punch the accelerator. Even with a resonator, I feel that it is too noisy for my liking but its not as bad as some cars out there. I changed my piping to 2.25" so i am looking for a performance muffler that is quiet that can go with the piping i just put on. Can anyone in here give me some suggestions of what is out there that I should look into. By the way here is the one i have right now with the specs. Thank you

2.25" Inlet, 3" Diam. Tip
Single Wall, Straight Rolled Edge
2" Tip Length
14" Muffler Body Length

Re: Looking for Quiet Performance Muffler

go with one of magnaflows oval mufflers. They're a lot quieter than the canister mufflers they make.

The smaller the muffler the louder its going to be.

Re: Looking for Quiet Performance Muffler

I went to the muffler shop where i got my exhaust put in and the dude said that all magnaflows are straight through...even the oval ones. He said that the sound will still be as loud as it already is with my current muffler. If I want it more quiet, id have to replace my cat with another resonator but I dont think i wanna do that. I may just put a stock muffler back on just to get it quiet to my liking and be safe even though i lose a little performance...Im gonna think about it.

One of the most quiet perf. exhaust systems i personally have heard are the Rs*R ex. mag systems.......they are jet black just like the flowmaster 60series and have a very suttle low pitch sound, but still keep the straight through design.......BUT!..They can get very pricey...Hope i helped

Re: Looking for Quiet Performance Muffler

he has all the piping, just looking for a muffler though. Although I do agree with you the ExMag is a badass exhaust.

Since the muffler shop guy doesn't seem to like the Mag ovals, in which I've never really heard a very loud one, go with an ES oval muffler from www.inlinefour.com.

es oval and magnaflow are the same straight trough designs.very good mufflers. other than a muffler a longer resonator will help quiet down an exhaust.btw most aftermarket exhaust are staright trough design except for the apexi ws or the rsr ?(dk the model)

if i had the money to spend, i would have definately bought the Apexi WS. What i plan to do tomorrow is go back to stock muffler which is gonna be really unusual since i have 2.25" piping already installed. From what they said, they are gonna have to cut some of the pipe and weld on a 1.75" pipe so that it could fit into the stock muffler. In the end, it turns out that I wasted money on a custom exhaust. The bright side to this is maybe i'll get some of my low-range power back that I lost and also drive without putting up with all that drowning.

Re: Looking for Quiet Performance Muffler

RS*R ExMag is the exhaust. None of these ovals that I've heard are very loud though. How do you have your exhaust setup? Still have the cat, any resonators, etc.

the way its setup now, I still have the cat converter and right behind that is the resonator. I asked for the resonator to come out too cuz i thought having it on might restrict much needed flow but he said that it would be pointless to do so since it wouldnt make much of a noticable difference anyways. also he said it would cost more to do so. So it looks like the resonator is there to stay though i wish it wasnt

Re: Looking for Quiet Performance Muffler

interesting, how big is your resonator? Resonators really don't hinder performance. They just tone down your exhaust note and get rid of that damn raspy sound.

you know what....i am searching the net right now for 2.25 piping on stock mufflers and now im thinkin about backin away from this. The reason being is that it may not be good for my car, most notably my header and cause issues such as overheating and a event called reversion which i am not to familiar with. Does anyone else know anything about this boy is there so much i dont know about cars...

Re: Looking for Quiet Performance Muffler

reversion is your exhaust gases reversing course and going back up your exhaust.

i was under the impression that just the tip doesnt make a difference...
if i were u i would go out and spend 500 on a new RS*R Ex Mag(Exhaust Magic)
it is designed to sound like a bmw m3 but still provides same hp and tq.
thats just me though.
