Need help getting clutch to engage the starter, within the next 24 hours...

The other day, my foot slid underneith the clutch in my 2000 SL1 and I ended up pulling this gold bar out of it's little "nest". I put the bar back in and that seemed to fix it. Now, though, the little button the clutch pushes on to get the car to start, won't go in. The clutch just smashes it, it doesn't go in the way it's supposed to in order to get the car to start. Anyone know how to fix this? The car is under warranty, but my dealer's service department isn't open til Monday morning, which is when I need to use my car.

since the car is under warranty, I wouldn't do anything but take it in. Since the switch that was smashed is relatively expensive, compared to free under warranty...and since it "may" void your warranty servicing it yourself...you may probably want to find a ride for monday and get your car serviced afterwards,

You can try playing with the switch by hand, wiggling it around to see if it just got stuck by being pushed in to far...

Or wait and see if sierrap has an easy fix for this,

for a one day temparoy fix, you should be able to jumper or otherwise override the safety switch. just be careful to not start the car in gear then drive straight to the dealership, i wouldn't want a limp clutch petal driving down the road.

Amen to that,
For her info, you probably want to post how these procedures are done,
like push starting = you get the car going a few miles an hour in nuetral with someone pushing it, then you put it in (1st or 2nd?) and let out on the clutch with the key in the on position

i have jumpered the little guy my self by disconnecting the wires to it and bending a paperclip so it will fit into the socket. but be careful, not only so that the car doesn't start in gear, but because that paperclip, if it is anything like mine was, will be very hot after cranking the start. wait a minute before removing the paperclip. also make sure the paperclip does not touch anything metal while its connected.
