Timing Belt Whine

I have a 1994 SOHC Prelude with 105K. This car is mint condition and been very well cared for. After getting it out of the shop having the timing belt, water pump, seals, and minor tune-up done, The car is whining real loud when you press the accellorator (both idling and driving) . I wouldnt call it a screach. It is also making really load vacuum/air sound, similar to a turbo charger whine. The car use to idle silent. Before, the car was recently vibrating bad in the dash at idle and preformance was down. The car is now running alot better. Most of the vibrations at idle have diminished, with the exception of some faint surging at ilde every so often. I had this done by a Honda Master Tech, but he is quite a ways from my home and closed this weekend. I will have to take the car back, but does anyone have any suggestion what the problem is. Should I not drive the car until I can get the car to the shop on Monday?

i just had the same problem but im pretty sure my belt whining was my alternater belt, still not totally possitive of that though, but dont assume its the timing belt automatically.

my h22 had a while similar to what ur talkin about(i'm assuming)...it was my alternator pulley...the bearing was wearing out and it caused a loud whining noise that got louder with acceleration...should be cheaper than the timing belt too

Re: Timing Belt Whine

I took it back to the shop today. The alternator belt was loose and causing the screaching, so they fixed that. They said it was the timing belt making the sound. He told me he put it on snug. He said he could loosen it, but it may become too loose later on. He told me to give it a week or 2 for the belt to break in. I have never heard a car sound like this. It sound really messed up. but all I can do it wait to see if it breaks in. Any comments?
