Exclamation Can anyone help?

Have a question....Sometimes I'll be driving and all of the sudden when I hit the gas to accelerate nothing happens. The RPMs don't even go up. Sometimes I even lose speed unless I slowly give it gas. I have replaced all plugs/wires, and even the MAF sensor. Could it have anything to do with the throttle? Transmission? Any answers will help.

Re: Can anyone help?

Hmmm.. Possibly something in the transmission, but have you checked for any codes yet?? How about fuel filter, pug wires hooked up right, coil packs? What year do you have. That may help.

Re: Can anyone help?

Its a 94. Plugs/wires are hooked up right. My mechanic hooked it up to a computer and it did give a code. It was 186 INJ pulse width too high or MAF too low. He said the most likely cause was a faulty MAF sensor so he replaced it.

Re: Can anyone help?

Well thats an awfully expensive part to just replace. Make sure that it is the correct air flow sensor and that it wasn't damaged when it was put in. If you have a star torx screw driver it comes out easily. They have them at auto places and Sears. It looks like a hex head with a hole in the center. I would try a different mechanic. It definately has to do with the way the computer is reading air flow. Hope this helps

Re: Can anyone help?

Yes it will. If there is no way for air to go out, there is no way for air to go in.

same problem with 97 eddie bauer explorer

Did the car get a weird smell in it when it first lost power? Because what you described is almost exactly what happened to mine and I had to replace the cat converter

Wouldn't hurt to check the air filter if you haven't already. Take it right out. I had a squirrel that was hoarding acorns last fall. I cleared about 3 lbs out from under the filter. Easy check.

Re: Can anyone help?

I checked the air filter and its fine. I don't recall a smell, when it loses power. I took it to a mechanic and he hooked it up again to a CPU and it showed no codes. He suggested replacing the fuel pump.
