Crashed My Intrepid Have Questions

I just crashed my 2003 Intrepid 2.7., 93,000 miles. The crash is in the right front side of the car (driver side). Apparantly the engine itself is okay, but i broke something that looks like a computer chip with a lot of of small pipes coming out of it. And behind that it looks like I banged up the computer.
I want to fix the car no matter what it takes even if it takes a new engine. So, I have a few questions and I would be very greatful if some one can help me out.

How much am I looking to pay if I want to replace just the computer?

How much to just upgrade the whole engine to a 3.5 or something?
( I think this is the best option because of the high mileage)

Any suggestion, comments, advice, opinion is welcomed, as I feel that I would get honest opinions at this site.

Thanks
Mike.

Re: Crashed My Intrepid Have Questions

on the right front of your car, should just be the housing for the battery, unless you damaged your battery, you should be ok. If your engine isn't making any unusual noises, you should be in the clear as well, but if you want to throw in a 3.5 from an ES Intrepid and you have the money, go right ahead, some mods need to be done and a new computer is needed, but other than that, you should be fine. Just FYI, your engine computer is located on the driver's side fender by your washer fluid filler neck and (if you have cruise control) mounted underneath your cruise control actuator.

Actually I think thats the side the I hit. The side with the computer and the cruise control. I also bent the front axle pretty bad.

Re: Crashed My Intrepid Have Questions

If you don't have any check engine lights, the engine starts up just fine and have no unusual problems, then the PCM is just fine, just replace the drive axle and get your fender and bumper replaced. As a precaution, you might want to take the car to a dealer or someone and have them pull up the readings on a scanner (or at Chrysler the DRB III) and see if all sensors are working and also that the PCM is internally ok.
