Unhappy 97 GP Went DEAD at speed - now no start!

Today's "SOLVE THAT MYSTERY" is brought to you by the letters G and P, and the numbers 9 and 7. 97 GP w/ 160K miles.

Ok can you help? I scanned the archives and the only possibility I found so far is possible fuse or PCM! I'll check fuses in the morning - should have done that first.

Symptoms:
First, a rhythmic tick-tick-ticking from under the dash around the driver kickplate. Hard to tell exactly where. It would only tick when the car was on and in gear and foot OFF of brake. It stopped if you pressed on the brake. Sounded just like a relay clicking off and on. I looked around under there - only one I could find was the ABS relay. I replaced that just for grins, but that wasn't it.

Fast forward 1 week:
Leaving work on a cold evening, car didn't even have time to warm up. I was at highway speed and noticed that the relay ticking was noticeably quicker, then all of a sudden the car went dead - lost everything, and it would not restart. Towed it home. Researched the deadness and that pointed to possible Cam Sensor or Crank Sensor. So I don't know if the relay-ticking sound was related to this or just a coincidental noise when this happened.

So Far Replaced:
I replaced the Cam and Crank Sensors since they are cheap and easy. Any guesses? - was the tick-ticking realated? If so, what is it? If not, what is next on the possible problems list.

Oh - no engine codes found.

Engine

Sorry, forgot. It is a 3.8L V6 GP SE. I have had it since Nov 99. (With very few problems, I might add, other than that darn gas guage thing).
