99 Dodge Ram 5.2 running problems

I hav a 99 Ram 5.2 that will run one minute, and then run rough the next. Sometimes it can be driven for a day or 2 without problems. I took the air cleaner off of it tofday and let it set idling. A few minutes went by and it sounded like it sucked in a lot of air and the m,otor started running rough. It died down to a low rpm but then started idling normal again after a few minutes. No codes come up for yhis. I am going crazy trying to figure out what could be wrong wioth it. Any help would be appreciated. Note---the tp sensor was changed on it thinking maybe that could be the problem but it wasn't

There's also an idle air control valve/motor that may be the issue; there are several posts on it, with problems similar to yours.

Re: 99 Dodge Ram 5.2 running problems

sounds like the idle speed motor is working as you said it sounded like it started to suck a lot of air indicates the idle speed motor opens up in an attempt to recover idle speed that is how it works opens up an air passage to controll idle speed but i would check fuel pressure as it's acting up or trying to quit or monitor spark also just a thought i repaired a 1998 ram today at work with the same type of problem but had to run for about 20-30 minutes then it would try to stall or it would if i engaged trans and turned out to be crank sensor and no codes in memory
