carburetor versus fuel injection
Looking into buying a 89 Caprice. Just wondering if I should go with the EFI or the carburetor version?
What would be advantages and disadvantages? Thanks! |

Go with fuel injection. Check out this link to compare fuel injection (Throttle Body Injection and Multi-port Injection) and carburation:
http://www.goingfaster.com/spo/praisetbi.html This link lists some of the advantages of fuel injection over carbs: http://www.tpub.com/content/construc.../14264_140.htm Hope this helps. |

Re: carburetor versus fuel injection
Explain to my how you get a choice in an 89 Caprice.... I guess the wagons would be carbed. But the other models will all be TBI.

Good point, although I figured he would be buy the car and then consider ripping off his TBI for a *cough* carb. From what I heard, thats what a lot of peole do. And its such a shame.

Re: carburetor versus fuel injection
It really is. The TBI unit is nearly fool proof. My 92 Astro was running on the original injectors at over 220k miles when it was totaled. My 89 has 190k+ on the originals. I can install new gaskets and screen in one in less than an hour and have it back on the road.
Now they don't respond well to cam changes w/o some PROM tuning... But what EFI engine does?
