AirPlane Hum from a 2003 Grand Am GT
My girlfriends Grand Am Gt started making a airplane huming like noise last week. You can hear it speed up when you accelerate and slow down when you decelarate.
I thought it might be a bad tire and she took it back to wear she got the tires, the said it wasn't the tire and was the Left Wheel Barring. Long story short they have replaced the left wheel baring, the Half Shaft, and the outer boot. She is now down 750 and it still makes the noise. Anybody have a clue to what it could be. Thanks. |

Re: AirPlane Hum from a 2003 Grand Am GT
It is a 2003. Is it over mileage for warrenty??
Mine makes a bit of a rubbing when cornering. I rotated the directional tires, and it went away for the most part. I would be taking that car back to the same shop that just did all that work, and bitch. A lot.

It could have more then one bad wheel bearing. After I rolled my car / rebuilt it, all 4 bearings needed to be replaced. Drive it down the road, and have someone move around in the car listening to the noise - you should be able to pinpoint it exactly.
