4.3 L shorty style headers

Hey all,
I had a question for you reguarding headers. I have a 92 chevy silverado 4WD with a 4.3L v6 in it. I was looking to put on new headers and was wondering if they were worth all the hype. Do they really help out with horsepower and gas milage as much as they say they do? Has anyone installed these and how easy was it/ how much improvement did you see? WIll these just bolt up or will I need to do some adjustments to my exhause system? How easy are these to install for a handyman who is somewhat automotively inexperienced? WHat are the steps to installing these? will these even fit my engine? Here is a link to the ones that I am looking at. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...968191666&rd=1
Thanks for all your help,
Jimmy Dager

Those headers are for V8's. If you can find shorties for the V6 you might see maybe a 10hp increase. Long tube will give you more power increase but require more modification and more money.

http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/tes_chart.html ... Here's a link to some of Edelbrock's tubular systems. Look about 1/3 way down the page. Dont know what price.. you'd have to check out edelbrock. While you're there sign up for a free catalog and I believe they send you a customer price list with it.

NOO, You wont see any hardcore increase in power with SHORTY's and most definatly not 10hp or trq for that matter!!! If you want more performance then you need longtubes!!! That will get you about 10hp and 10-15trq! Shorties are polished versions of your stock headers, most of the gain that people see from them is cause they are 8lbs lighter!

I might add that he's running an old style truck. Not the newer ones. It's believed that they do better on headers than the newer trucks do. Just my

Good luck homie, i'm just saying if its a V6 I highly doubt he'll see that big of a jump. Better yet, ghet it dyno'd b4 and after! I'm telling you from experience, but if you are coming from experience as well then he'll need to dyno it to know the true answer!
