2003 serpentine belt replacement
I have an 03 Pontiac Montana. I need to replace the serpentine belt. Every auto parts store I have contacted asks if I have a 105A alternator or a 130A alternator. The 105A belt is 87inches, the 130A belt is 88.5 inches.
funny thing is, my alternator (it's GM original) says 125A on it. When I called the dealer to try to figure out what the heck was going on, he gave me the part number 12576454 and stated that it was 2225mm in lenght, which equates to 87.59inches. WTF is going on here? ANyone replace their serpentine belt and experieince this problem? |

Re: 2003 serpentine belt replacement
Not with the exact same problem, but with a similar. On the 98 model there was a 105 and 140A options. The determining factor was if you had rear airconditioning. If you did, you had the bigger alternator requiring the larger belt.
IF you still have your old belt, take it in to the parts store. Most stores have a gauge that will measure it for you. It will have stretched some, but I doubt an extra 1.5 inches. |

You should have a list of RPO codes for your vehicle. My 02 Silhouette codes are located inside the panel that covers the inflator pump switch (interior left rear/inside of vehicle, open the rear hatch and look left) .
The factory service manuals has this for the following codes..... K68 - 105 AMP KG7 - 125 AMP KG9 - 140 AMP Like the above poster said, you can always take the old belt to the parts store and measure it there. |
