Question Can't get the key out.

Question. Does anyone else have trouble getting the key out of the ignition? I live in the country so security is not a problem but I'd still like to get the dang key out when I go to the grocery store. (Can't trust those soccer moms and senior citizens you know:-)

Cool

I don't know if anybody else has this problem but I found that when I put the car in park and turn off the engine, that if I push forward on the shifter a little while turning the key it will go into the lock position and I can take the key out. Hope this helps somebody.

If you're talking about an automatic, the problem may be with the parking cable. The parking cable goes from your automatic shifter to your ignition. When you throw the car into park, the cable moves a piece that allows you to turn the key to the position that allows you to slide take the key out.

The cable also prevents you from starting the car when you are in any gear other than park.

Under the steering column cover, you can see that cable attached right next to the ignition cylinder.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the info. My little quick fix works, but now I can fix the problem altogether.
