Tranny slips in reverse only???
I'm buying a 1991 camry wagon off my brother. It needs a CV joint on the drivers side and the tranny slips in reverse. When you shift into reverse it takesa few seconds to build presure then it kicks in fine. the car has 120,000 miles on it. Any idea what the problem might be?
Also, am I looking at big money for the CV joint repair? Thanks Jay |

Re: Tranny slips in reverse only???
The CV joint repair should be around $180 at most places, (excluding the dealer) to replace the whole axle with a rebuilt one. I believe that is what Pep Boys charges.
Sorry, I can't offer much advice about the tranny problem. I assume you have already inspected the fluid and checked it's level. Most people would do a trans fluid and filter (screen) change before doing anything else. Mike |
