how much quicker is the vtec version of the 92-96 prelude vs the si version?

has anyone here swapped their engine for a vtec one in their 92-96 prelude? id rather have answers from people who have actually gone through this.

and please give me some good accurate information, no bs answers.

Re: honda prelude question

The USDM vtec prelude has 190hp and 158 ft/lbs torque. The Si has the same torque, give or take a few ft/lbs, and 160hp. As far as quickness, the vtec does 0-60 in about 7 seconds, give or take a tenth, and runs the 1/4 mile in the low 15's and with good driving a stock can hit high 14's. The Si...0-60 in 7.8ish and 1/4 mile in high 15's or low 16's. Yes, many people have swapped a JDM H22A into their prelude. And just so you know, this question has been asked countless times, so use the search function before you post...not doing so makes some people angry. Google does wonders as well.

Re: honda prelude question

I haven't done a swap but I currently own a 92 si and a 96 vtec. The vtec and the si feel almost exactly the same until vtec hits at ~5000 rpm, then it's a kick in the ass neck snapper until ~7500 rpm. The si just pulls slightly (nothing like the vtec) until around 6500 rpm. So while the si's powerband dies at just over 6k, the vtec is still pulling hard in the middle of it's powerband.
Huge difference. The vtec is waaaay better.

Re: honda prelude question

VTEC: It's louder, gruntier, and makes you feel like you're in a rocket. Difference between night and day.
