I have a lot of experience with fiberglass I just have never learned how to do that so If anyone knows how to do it, and if they can help me out I'd really appreciate it, Thank you. Re: Making custom Panels

you are going to need some poly styrene expanding foam....and alot of it....if yo uwant to build completely from scratch...if you want to make a mold of you current door panel then intigrate everything into it....i am working on custom tweeter pods right now....waiting for some resin to cure.....i will be posting pics on here and on the audio form...so keep a look out...it is just a small version of what you would do with your WHOLE door and or dash board....

Re: Making custom Panels

When you do make a mold of the front, then how do you attach it to the door itself. Is there anyway you can explain it briefly how you would be able to do it.

Re: Making custom Panels

check out the car audio form, "bow before they mater, bitches" 3rd page. you can attach it with anything from epoxy to double sided stickey tape... in other words, any type of adgeasive that will hold the weight will do, screws can also be used...

Re: Making custom Panels

you would make the MDF rings and all suspended off of the plastic using wooden dowels glued to the MDF and the plastic then take Fleece and strech ot over the whole thing, then tape it or glue it then glass the fleece.... so the resin wasnt eating away at the plastic????

Re: Making custom Panels

Gotta give it a tooth, sand the plastic with 40 grit before doing it, once the glass is fairly thick it wont come off. The resin also will not melt the plastic.

Re: Making custom Panels

so after I sand the plastic of with 40 grit, will the resin stck better. Or resin will not stick at all to plastic. Also, what about just basically sand all the scratches of the panels that came with the dash then smooth is out with 400 g and then spray a high build primer then smooth is out with that. Then paint it just like u would a car

Re: Making custom Panels

After you sand with the 40 the fiberglass should stick pretty good once its fairly thick so it reinforces itself. After you fiberglass prep and paint as you would anything else.
