most of the good tracks for street cars aren't NHRA, they're either IHRA or Independent.

Aww damn, lemme do some checkin. I know there's a good track in east TX; it used to be some sort of airfield. I just can't remember where it's at or what it's called.

The abanded airport near Texas Tech...

What do you mean by 'central Texas'. I mean, the only track I can think of is Kenadale (heard good and bad about it), and it really depends. You can be in central Texas and 30 minutes from the Metroplex (DFW), or five hours.

Re: Any one know of any tracks to race in TX?

I've taken my rental beaters to Texas Raceway in Kennedale while on biz trips. Fun track! But only 1/8 Mile. Off Hwy 287 about 15-20 miles southwest of Arlington. I-20 has an interchange to 287. Go south on 287 about 3 miles, then turn right & go about 2 miles. Can't remember the street you turn R on, but there is a sign.
Of course, there is always the Texas Motorplex in Ennis. 1/4 Mile, NHRA national event track.

It wouldn't be worth the drive if you're passing HRP, but it's one of the better tracks I've been on. For the drive I have it's either Evadale or Eunice, LA which is a crap track. I'd have to drive 3 hours to get to Houston, about as far for NPR at Belle Rose.
