Red face 93 buick century O2 sensor

Okay so I am tired of being jerked around by mechanics because i am a girl. I need to replace my O2 sensor and if i bring it anywhere i won't get out of there without spending over $100. I need to figure out where it is located and what I need to replace it myself. Please help. I am willing to go and drop the 40 bucks for the service manual if I have to.

Re: 93 buick century O2 sensor

How skilled are you with a wrench?

go to the local autoparts store and get a cheapie O2 sensor socket, as well as the new o2 sensor. its licated on the exhaust manifold near the firewall. You'll recognize it as a thing sticking out of the exhaust with a wire attatched. the wire just unclips from its socket.

Good luck, and feel free to ask more questions!

Af is the best resource online for Buicks. I think every other frequent member of this forum will agree to that. If you really want detail, get a factory service manual. Not Haynes or Chilton, but Helms, the one that GM produces, because who knows GM cars better, than GM?

You can order from helm.com, or try ebay to save a few bucks.

Haynes or Chiltons would be able to help with this issue. Certainly cheaper than Helms. If you just need the info many autoparts stores will let you look through a Haynes manual and it will have a photo of the O2 sensor in the car. Good Luck.

btw: I agree, This is the BEST site and a Helms is better even if more expensive.

I stand corrected. $10 is a great deal. A new Haynes or Chiltons is $15

Re: 93 buick century O2 sensor

I'll just add to what public said. Chiltons and haynes are pretty decent manuals for most tasks. However, if you've been here as long as I have, you'd see countless people complaining about not having a particular diagram, or certain instructions with haynes or chilton. I don't recall any complaints about helms manuals though. This maybe due to few people having them, but I havent heard any complaints.

If you can find a helms manual on ebay under 20 dollars, snatch that baby up! Helm sells the 93 century manual for 30 dollars plus shipping.

Most likely i also had a 90 buick that needed an oxygen sensor...you should just make sure as to the location of it.

I just went to my local NAPA and got the 02 sensor and the socket for $50 much better than the 130 at the mechanic!!!

thanks everyone for your help.

BTW- I won the bid for the manual $10.50!

I let you know how my playing mechanic works out
