Should I or Should I Not spend the money...
Hey everyone out there...
I posted a few days ago about my honda accord lxi. Well, I finally took it to a shop because I could not get the damn thing to work. Looks like the engine is in great condition, and it was just poor wiring/connection for the starting issue. However, it was found that the fuel injectors (all) need to be replaced with in the next 6 months, this is likely to cost a good 750 bucks. So heres the deal, I bought the car for 650. I am going to put the new breaks on myself, but highly doubt that I should be playing with the fuel injectors so I'll have to pay someone. What do you all think, is it worth it? Any insight would be great. thanks jt |

Seriously, though. The injectors just push in and are held in place by hardware, you have to get the fuel rail off of them, and disconnect the wires. No biggie. Get a good service manual and I'm sure you could tackle it.
I still wonder why they would say they will have to be replaced in the future. That's weird, unless they are leaking, in which case they should be fixed NOW.

If the injectors are partially plugged, you might try this stuff called Sea Foam. Yeah, weird name. You pour it in the gas tank. It was recommended to me at a parts shop that has a lot of NASCAR guys in there all the time, and he said they like it. On my old Caravan, I was stunned to get a prompt 10% improvement in my mileage (I keep pretty close track). I haven't had occasion to try it on my new Honda yet.
