Rearview compass wacky?
On my 2001, I replaced the standard rearview mirror with one from a used car parts place that had a compass - it bolted right on, same plug on the back plugged in and lit up. Onstar works but the compass reads S and SW but stays where it was when I turn North or East...it doesn't get to N or E at all.
Where is the "compass" sensor in the Aurora? In the mirror or somewhere else on the car? What could be wrong? |

I believe the compasses are contained in the mirror. They are set for specific zones or areas of the country. Your compass may be defective or need resetting for the correct geographic zone. The 2001 Aurora owner's manual contains the instructions for setting the zone and calibrating the compass.

Re: Rearview compass wacky?
I have a very similar problem. My compass is always 45deg off.. If I am going S it says SW. I had to reattach the mirror to the glass and that is when the problem started. The mirror was without power for a week or so before I could fix.
