What is the general drivetrain of Skylines?

Does any of you know the general drivetrain of skylines GTS, GTS-T and 25GTT (I know that GT-R is AWD)? Are they any good in drifting?

AWD sucks at drifting. If you had AWD it would hav the HICAS system and you would need to disable it for drifting. I beleive the regular Skylines are also AWD if not they are just RWD... Search Google for the Answers...

GTS, GTS25T, GTT = RWD manual or auto

GTR = 4WD manual

GTS4 = 4WD manual or auto

Re: What is the general drivetrain of Skylines?

yeah, i was wondering why all skylines in the papers DON'T say all wheel drive and WHY all GT-Rs don't usually drift. thanx hundreds...So basically the less powerful ones in the series has Rear Wheel Drive, right?

Re: What is the general drivetrain of Skylines?

You can still drift a GTR you just need to make it RWD. And that is just changing the drivetrain out of it.

Re: What is the general drivetrain of Skylines?

It has to be, no race car is 4WD except PIKE'S peak cras and rally. So yes it is RWD

Re: What is the general drivetrain of Skylines?

Wouldn't this mean crapper traction (although top speed would be greater due to lighter weight)?

Re: What is the general drivetrain of Skylines?

It would be worse traction but the weight is lower and they don't need the complicated transfer case. RWD is less moving parts and easier to fix then the 4WD...

My R32 GTR has had the Hicas disabled. I believe there is a glitch with the 32's, while driving flick the key off then on and it switches the car into rear wheel drive. Stopping completely for 3 seconds (some say driving at under 20kp/h also) will automatically put the car back to 4wd mode. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work in the 33 or 34.

4wd is good for track & motorkhana, rwd is good for drifting, ofcourse this also depends on your personal preference and driving style. There is differences in opinion as to whether you can actually drift a 4wd (not just powerslide). I wouldn't think GTR's could drift due to the Atessa system, unless 4wd had been disengaged. Because it loads the torque to the front wheels when it senses wheel spin and other occasions.
