EGR Valve

My 97 camry had the check engine light on a month ago. I found out that the problem is EGR circulation flow problem. From what I have read in the forum, many recommends that I clean the EGR valve first. I called more than 4 independent dealers, but all of them said they don't clean EGR. It is better for me to have them dignose the problem first.

I am so confused and wondering if anyone have any idea what I should do?

Thank you very much

Re: EGR Valve

Clean the EGR valve. They are just trying to get you in the door.

Take it off and clean it with solvent as best you can.

Re: EGR Valve

Can just as often be the tube supplying exhaust gas to the EGR valve that needs cleaning.
Been a long time since I've had to do that, but that's where I've seen blockages.
