CD Player installation - 91 Cutlass

Hey everyone. I'm helping my brother install a cd player into his 91 Cutlass Supreme SL, and we cannot figure out how to get the old deck out, or even just to get the harness off. Do I have to take the dash apart to get it out? If so, what do i do. By unhooking the stereo, will it disable anything? We're going to be using a wire harness that plugs into the origional one so that the wires won't have to be spliced. Can anyone help me out on what to do? I did it in my car (93 cavalier) no problem. dang luxury cars, hehe. Any help is appreciated.

Just a few screws that hold the instrument cluster bezel in place and the bezel snaps straight out. Mine has the headlight switch mounted in that bezel which you'll need to be careful with. After that, it is pretty obvious, two small bolts at the bottom of the radio, and it will slide out. The connections all have push tabs that hold them into the radio back.

Thanks alot. Now by disconnecting that deck, will it disable anything? liek doorlocks, horn, etc? Theres a whole lota wires back there. Should i just unplug it and connect the necessairy wires? Will it work?

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think those connectors do anything but control the radio, antenna, and speakers. Just to be on the safe side, after you pull the radio out, drive the car and make sure everything is working correctly without any radio. Then, you'll have piece of mind to install your new unit and know if won't affect anything.

stereo

I have a 1991 cutlass supreme and I have replaced every speaker and add 2 1.5 inch tweeters to the top of the a pilar as well as builtin my trunk with a 100watt mono block amp . just un plug the harness an d buy the propper adapter harness from a the electronics store or even walmart don't cut the wires off an hook up the harness that comes with the deck you well regret it you also need a dash adapter kit and the biggest one is needed to clear the defroster duct behind the stereo an anntena adapter is also required.
