Re: Where to get new parts to rebuild a DOHC ZC ?

I do the ebay thing now, but wanted internals which dont come up on ebay as often if at all. Thanx for the links Jos4DCivic, they will def. come in handy for my rebuild. Gonna have to do a compression check this weekend to see where its all at, that and my inspection which i hope doesnt cost me as much as it did last year since i failed 3 times.

Umm well i don't think i would worry about getting roller rockers. Send the $ and get some springs and retaners some values and stuff like that. Most of the factory stuff you can get from the dealer

do you just want to do a normal rebuild? if so, heres what you do.

Gaskets: Buy a complete gasket kit for an 88-89 integra. This comes with every gasket for the engine. including valve seals which is whats probably causing you to burn oil. either that or rings.

Rings: You can get replacement rings from any d-series with the 75mm bore. I bought mine for an 88-91 civic/crx and they fit great.

Bearings: You can either get them for the 88-89 integra or 88-91 civic. if you did a search on ebay for zc bearings, you bound to come up with something also.

Re: Where to get new parts to rebuild a DOHC ZC ?

kool thanx for the help guys, i would like to do an upgrade on the internals in what ever ways i can to get more outta the motor. As for goin to a dealer, i dont want to spend a shit load of money on parts i can get cheaper somewhere else of same or better quality. What do you guys think about boring the block and puttin in a reinforcment ring. I know i will have to step up the pistons and rings so what would be a good size bore and rings to goto. I will probably also step up the valve size when i do a p&p to the head so any suggestions on that also? At the end of the day i want this to be a reliable daily that will be used for auto-cross also.

One thing about dealer part's are that they are not cheeply made. You get some of them autozone gaskets and stuff and you will be living proff (you get what you pay for)

um.... all of them? do you want to focus on top end? or bottom end power. top end is in the head. a basic build of a zc head consists of cams, springs, and retainers. if you wanna spend a lot of money, you can do the LS valvetrain upgrade from dh-racing. what they do is line bore for the larger cams, port and polish all ports, you get LS dual valve springs, and titanium retainers. also, they bore out your intake and exhaust valve seats. this means that you will have bigger valves. bigger valves = more air... more air is always more gooder. on top of all that you get new, polished high flow valves, resurfacing of the deck and they will polish the combustion chambers. (that package costs $1250)
As for building the bottom end...increase displacement. theres a couple options. you can bore the cylinders out and get some bigger pistons (dont need to get forged unless your planning on some sort of F/I) or you can get a stroker kit. thats also available from dh-racing. zc's scream with the stroker kit. you'd be beating up on any vtec's, and honestly, most turbo's. well, thats my blabble for now
