89 accord lxi surges and dies and hard to start afterward

ok to start with the car has newlugs,wires,cap, rotor,igniter,coil,main relay etc. the car normally does not have a consistent idle to start with. it varies from 500rpm to a little over 1000.and sometimes it will drop to zero rpm and die. when it does if i pull over it is hard to start.i hit the key over and over . sometimes it will fire a plug or 2 but wont start. after doing this many times it will start and run fine. but i noticed if i am driving and it dies, i pop the clutch and it will start.but this is intermittant. it doesnt lose idle all the tiime..please help me

Have you checked your PCV valve/filter/hose? If not - check it out.
