'96 Radio Controls no Backlight

'96 Explorer EB JBL Premium Audio Sys question

I have the Stock Radio/Cassette with CD Changer sys in my '96 Explorer with JBL Premium Sound. Aren't the Radio control buttons supposed to light up? Mine don't. I had seen the thread about the place you can pay $19.99 to get the procedure for resoldering the board to fix "no display" problems with '98 and later models, but nothing about "no backlit" display on the radio controls. Does anyone else have this problem.

I have a 98 and it sounds like the same problem -- only mine has no display - radio/cd/tape works fine - you just have to guess who your listening to.
I don't know of any circuit repair - but I have no problem pulling the radio out in my spare time.

No display here on my '98 either. How can I find the thread?
