stuck back hatch

i have a 94 jgc and the back door is stuck shut and i have tried to open many times pushing down on the hatch and so forth....does anyone have and ideas on how to open it....also does anyone kno how to check why the check engine light is on....thanks for the help

The only way I know how to get the Hatch opened is to take the hatch pannel off from the inside of the jeep. You should be able to get the pannel off enough to see what is hanging up. Before taking off the pannel make sure the hatch is unlocked and push down and up while working the hatch. If this dosent work you will have to remove the pannel.
AS for the check engine light being on try cycling the key on off on off on within 5seconds and count the flashes and post back.

hey the light flashed 16 times....but does short long flash matter....thanks

Count both flashes like 3 long and 4 short= code 34.
