I have the Chilton manual for my 95 Crown Victoria and it gives directions for replacing/repacking the wheel bearings. The thing that confuses me is the fact that it states for years 1993 or before. What about years after 1993? Is there some secret to this year?
The mechanic I called quoted me $380 just for the front end and I know that is way too much! Thanks for the help! ScottB |

Re: Front Wheel Bearings Replacement?
The front wheel bearings are NOT serviceable, they are sealed on '93 and newer cars. When they are bad, they must be REPLACED with a new bearing/hub assembly. As I recall, they hubs sell for around $60.

Is it a job easily done or does it require special tools? On a scale of 1-10 how difficult is it? I have replaced head gaskets and drive components so I am fairly handy with a wrench. Thanks! ScottB |

Re: Front Wheel Bearings Replacement?
One being inserting the key, and 10 a trans overhaul, this rates a 2. No special tools needed, but you MUST properly Tq the spindle nut, and use a NEW ONE.

Thank you for your help. I will give it a shot then. I'll post my findings.
