hole in my muffler

hey guys, i have a 5th gen civic vti (exi) sedan auto.i have 2.5" pipe underneath, with just a normal muffler. i dont want any thing loud, the previous owner put on the 2.5" piping. this is my 3rd muffler already, cause after 2-3 months, the muffler starts to sound crap.

my friend who has a 4th gen hatch drilled a small hole at the bottom of his muffler. right in the middle. and it mad his exhaust sound nice. not loud. him and his dad knows full on about mechanical stuff for the car. he said that why dont i just do the same. i forgot what he said why i shlould do it, sumthing about it will remove the water that stays in the muffler, and makes the sound better, and breathe the engine better.

can any one help me.

cause its pissing me off. should i just look in a honda wrecker for the stock pipe, or is it just better to buy a aftermarket pipe. 2.25"

please

Re: hole in my muffler

drilling a hole will cause rust to form and after a while your gonna have a hole thats bigger than it was before.

water in the exhaust, yeah sure there might be but that exhaust gets hot, it will evaporate all that water after a half hour of driving. i dont understand waht you mean by a "normal muffler" stock ?

Re: hole in my muffler

soory, my car has a 2.5" pipe underneath. this muffler is my 3rd right now, every muffler i have and had starts to go crap after a few month, is it because of the 2.5" pipe.

is it better to just go to a honda wrecker (car junk yard) and look for a stock civic pipe and muffler.

or should i go to a exhaust shop and buy a 2.25 inch pipe for my car. will it sound different.

is 2.25" the stock size
