oil pan plug leak

I have a 2002 cavalier that seems to be leaking oil out from around the oil pan plug. I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this mess. I change the oil in all my cars every 3000 miles religiously. When it comes time to crawl under the cavalier, I find a light mist of oil on the side of the oil pan and all over the bottom of the trans fluid pan. I have replaced the oil pan plug and gasket twice. Any thoughts? Thanks

Mike

From your attn to detail, I suggest you look at the drain plug proper and ensure it isn't crossthreaded. I'd also scrutinize the pan gasket looking for some place where the gasket may either be squeezed out; or missing a small section. there may be a loose nut or some bent edge on the pan itself.
Barring any of that I'd ascertain as to whether it is indeed oil, and not some other liquid like trans fluid.
