Unhappy help w/replacing driverside power mirror

My drivers side mirror got hit by a bus...have found a replacement for it but have no idea how to take the old one off and install new one. It is the chrome/black power (not heated) mirror on my 2001 Sierra 1500.

Please help...thanks

Thumbs up Here Is How You Do It!

Hope I can help...

( I am a girl, so be patient. will try to explain in "guy terms"... but you know i won't)

Open the door...there is a black plastic, triangular shaped, piece located about where a "wing window" should be.

Push this piece up, towards the sky, with your palm to release the bottom "keep"...sliding this piece up and away from door trim panel. Once free, the bottom of this piece will pull away from the door.

Underneath this piece are 3 "snaps" , forming a triangle (1 at top and 2 at bottom). Grasp the edges of this piece with fingertips. Now, gently and evenly, pull away from the door frame until all snaps have "popped". (I had to pull fairly hard, working around the edges so not to break the plastic)

Once removed, you will see the wiring harness ...unplug the old one. My mirror was held on by 3 bolts/nuts that were not easy to get to. I found it easiest to use needle nose pliers and then loosen by hand (so you don't drop into window track) Once removed, the mirror assembly comes right off! ...you can handle it from here...

(the black plastic piece just snaps back on, don't forget to slide it back down over door trim or it will rattle)

Tah-Dah!!!! you are finished...

let me know if you didn't understand any part of this...and let me know if you did
