'91 525i engine water leak

I just recently acquired a 1991 bmw 525i and it started overheating shortly there after .When I checked the water level I noticed the it was leaking from the back of the engine.When I added water coolant to the radiator it just poured through the back of the engine,..if anyone knows what the problem could be I would appreciate any advise

Had a major leak from my 92 525i, from the back of the engine. Had to take it to BMW, and they found it was heater matrix. matrix was only 85 pounds, but labour was 250. If your interior heating is not working too well, then I would say it was the same problem.

i have the same problem in the back drivers side of the engine next to the firewall it drips out my antifreeze

hey i fixed mine today it was the heater valve about 140$ at bmw and doesnt take much to change unplug the 2 plugs disconnect 3 hozes and 3 10mm nuts on the top of it and it comes right out.

It sounds like the matrix. Can you see it dripping from the top or bottom of the engine???
