first thought is bad gas,
but how did you check for spark, gas, and air?
What led up to the condition, just dead one day? Or has it been sittin?

Here is an answer from another thread:

although i am not sure of the exact problem, here are a few things that can give a hard/no start but the car will run(basicly in order of possiblety):

1. bad ECT( the ECM uses the ECT as the primary input to determine the A/F ratio for cranking)
2. sticking IAC
3. sticking EGR
4. carbon build-up in intake(2,3, and 4 all go together, all affect amount of air entering the engine, all are affected by carbon build-up)
5. clogged injectors/low fuel pressure
6. weak battery/ other electrical problem (cables, starter)
7. bad KAM(the PCM's memory if you will, its part of the engine becoming dependent of starter fluid i beleave)
8. spark plugs/wires
9. engine mechanical problem(low compression, internal resistance, ect...)

so that said, here is what i would do: start by replacing the ECT if it has not been done before, buy a can of carb and choke cleaner and clean the throttle body, IAC, and EGR(with removing the EGR, you will also need a new EGR gasket), pull the PCM B fuse for about 15 seconds (this will reset the PCM's KAM). then try to crank at partcial throttle(not WOT, not closed throttle). total investment at this point is about $30. if that doesn't help testing of the fuel, starting, and ignition system will be needed.

Re: 97 sl2 cant find the problem

don't focus to much on that list. i made that for a certain problem the guy was having.

check your fuel pressure. try cycling the key on and off a few times to prime the fuel system before cranking.

check intake and exhaust for restrictions.(try started with intake tubing remove and O2 sensor removed)

what that compression test dry or wet?

what lead up to this problem?

on the compression i do not know what wet/dry refers to but the injectors where in but fuel pump fuse was removed. nothing blocking air intake or exaust the air filter and stuff are off. i am not certan what hapend befor i tryed to start it my wife drives it when i am in school.
i did remove the air intake manifold cleand it it had some carbon in it. after i put it back together it ran for about 10 seconds with no problem then just shut off . i think i have good fuel pressur after i turn it on and hit the relife i get a solid stream of fuel but the pump will not start again till i turn it off and on again. it will flow concistant when crancking the eng thou.i tryed to do the on board computer check with jumping the a-b pin in the plug but it will not give me any reading on the bash bord acording to the book i have it is to start with a 12 coad then go in to the check .

Re: 97 sl2 cant find the problem

ok so the moral of the story is this only becaus you have fuel going to the fuel rack does not mean it is going throu the injectors especialy if the fuse that is labled INJ is blown
so right now this is how i feal lol

no problem, although we didn't do much more than overcomplicate the situation,
the injector fuse... I should've thought of that one...

Re: 97 sl2 cant find the problem

common practice with a compression test is first going around testing all cylinders "dry", then going around a second time "wet" with adding a little bit of oil to each cylinder before testing it.
