98 Cavalier passlock?(manual)

I just bought a 98 cavalier last Sunday. It drove wonderfully Sunday and Monday night, but when I went to start it up this morning absolutley nothing happened. No turn over, no lights, no beeping, nothing. When I got back I took a closer look. The dashboard cluster wil light up sometimes, including the passlock icon(not that I realized it was there in the first place), and the thermostat would jump to about half way, or the speed to 40, even though I wasn't trying to start the car. The only noise I got out of it was like when you squeeze the opening of a balloon and it squeaks different pitches, like a dying fart. At one point everything just flashed at me and still nothing doin'. Sometimes it makes the noice when I release the brake pedal, sometimes when I play with the headlights, and sometimes when I move the key back and forth. I'm going to try to jump it when my other half gets home, but I think it has something to do witht he anti-theft.

I apologize for the length and lack of actual terminology. I'd appreciate any ideas anyone can offer.

Re: 98 Cavalier passlock?(manual)

i dont know it will work but its worth a shot. turn the key in the on position, dont start the car, just turn the key. leave it sitting with the key on for 30 minutes. turn the key off. then try to start. this will reset the passlock its what the dealer said but it didnt work for me maybe it will for you.

Update!

We jumped it when John got home, and it started and ran fine. But when he checked it again this morning, the same thing happened. Could this be a short somewhere that is draining the battery?

Thanks for the reply evansdad.
