exhaust question

i just have a kinda stupid question,i have a 86 n/a and i changed out the whole exhaust(2 aftermarket mufflers,no cats and all new 2 1/4 pipe).my question is will it hurt anything not to hook up the "split air pipe" that goes to the factory cat converter? what does it do and what will it not do when not hooked up??? any help would be appreciated...thanks

i think it activates the 5/6 ports...

I have a problem solver for you... or I did... I saw the block off thing for that this afternoon before I went to work and of course now it has disappeared haha I'll post it when I find it again
