New block pics

Well as some of you guys know, that stage I block I had almost all ready to go ended up being JUNK. So, I got my money back and stepped up and bought a stage II on center block. This paticular block was used for one qualifying round in a Mclarin indy car

I have already magged and sonic tested this block. It is MINT. In fact standard bore for this block was 3.895 or something like that. The bore now is 3.845. I have to bore the block 50 thousands just to reach standard bore!! That means this block has about 4 rebuilds in her.

mated with a set of Buick Stage II heads and proper cam, I should be able to make over 1,000 HP min. we will see

ok guys

Here is one of the main caps. Ever see a four bolt splayed v-6 before?

Bottom end shot. the middle two main caps are four bolt splayed, but front and rear caps are 2 bolt with cross drilled mains.

speed six symbol casted into the block, that is one of the main ways to identify a stage I or II block

Here are the cross bolts I was talking about.

bad shot of the lifter vally. I am going to be using a sold mechanical roller cam

Here is number 2 cylinder. I know it is hard to see but notice the ridge cut around the cylinder??? The block is O-ringed. One thing that is good about the Stage block is that there are 14 head blots per bank on a v-6. Don't have to worry about lifting the heads anymore.

There she is, I am going to start putting it togeter in a few weeks I will keep you posted.

Re: New block pics

Now that looks better then the one you posted before (and somehow I missed you saying it was junk). Good luck with it.

What are your plans for the car now? You going to keep it a street car, or are you going to go street/strip or track only? Either way, you're going to have to have alot of safety equipment in that baby! I have always thought it'd be totally awesome to see a full cage in a street vehicle, lol.

With this block... I hope to be LOW nines possibally high 8's

It is going to go into another Regal that will be cloned to be just like a GN. I don't want to put a cage in my real GN, they are worth too much to do that to.

It will be street leagal but, not what I would consider a street car.

Re: New block pics

Would you need a roll bar if you run 11.49 or better and a full roll cage if you're in the 9s?

12 pt cage, parachute, five pt harness, wheelie bars, nomex firesuit (With fireproof underwear ) fire extinguisher, certified chassis, blah blah blah.

It won't be prolly untill next summer, I am not expecting to have this car done for awhile.

Yeah, what Hypsie said. 11.49 you have to have a 6-pt. cage I think. 10.99 you have to have atleast a 10 or 8-pt. I believe, along with trans. shield, modified rear end, plus alot of little things. 9.99 you have to have a chute, license, certified chassis, etc.

I don't blame you for not wanting to put a cage in your GN. They are pretty rare and are legendary to say the least, lol.
