need 2 stock rims

Ok guys, as you may know, I busted some rims. I'm considering my options, but as of now it looks like I just want to buy 1, possibly 2 used rims from whoever. I need the 18" chrome 6 spoke. I don't want bent rims, they need to hold air, and perferably have minimal if any curb damage. I know a few of you have mentioned that you had some, so I'll probably shoot a few of you PMs as well. But if any of you have 1 or 2 you willing to part with please let me know, either here or via PM. I should have the money put together in the next few days. Thanks, Geoff

Re: need 2 stock rims

Ok, I need some sound advice from someone other than me on 2 issues.

Basically I found 2 or 3 people that are all willing to sell me 2 rims for ~$425 shippped.

Issue #1) I talked to the insurance company who is supposed to pay me, the guy said he would cut me the check as soon as he receieved one last piece of paperwork...I faxed it to him the next day...so technically, the check should be in the mail and arriving shortly. So should I spend some of my last money immediately to get these rims quicker...or should I wait until I actually have the check physically in my hands before shelling out the money to get my car rolling again?

2) Since I have a few similar offers...do you think it I would be a prick if I ask for pictures from them all and then go with the ones in the best shape...or should I go with whoever contacted me first? I don't want to be a prick and get someone's hopes up on making money only to go with the other guy or whatever.

Any quick advice. I feel like I just want a sensible second opinion.

Re: need 2 stock rims

1-Personally, I would wait until I get the check first. I'm pretty pessimistic so just to be on the safe side, in case something bad happens, I'd rather have the money for a possible emergency.

2-Yes, I'd get pictures. Why buy something and pay that much and end up with something that isn't as good as it could have been? And if you want, you could maybe even get them to offer you the best price. LOL Okay, maybe that'll be taking it too far but seriously, pictures would be a must for me if I was buying something that's that expensive. That's just me though....good luck...

Yes - wait for the check and there is nothing wrong in asking for a few pics.

Agreed. I just called a local place that specializes in allloy wheel repair and its 120 for each wheel, I think I might get the front two straightned out since the rear isn't bad. Trouble is my insurance company is asking for twice what I thought I would be paying this month so I'll have to talk to them about that.

Re: need 2 stock rims

Yeah, I'm waiting for the check. Just felt bad about having 3 people on hold while I made up my mind.
