celica st potential

ive been looking for a new car for about a year now. ive looked at older Z's, mk3 supras and 240sx's; ive researched each one and its hard to make a decision, but my problem is i can never find one that doesnt have anythign big wrong with it! ive looked at celicas before too, but decided against them because they dont seem to be cars people do much with. now im coming to you guys to ask a broad question: ive found a few good deals on 91 celica st's, and im wondering, whats the cars potential and how much would it cost?

IMO the ST isnt really the best place to start if you want a fast car. they make good first cars, daily drivers. If you want eyeball splitting performance its gonna cost you alot of time & money, engine swaps will get mentioned by others as will turbo conversions, the list goes on. If I were you I`d either go for the GT model or above, if you can get hold of an st165 the AWD 2 litre turbo version, you wont be disapointed. It depends on what you want from a car? daily drive? track car? or 1/4 mile rocket?

im looking for a street car really; a daily driver that has about 300 hp and is fun to drive(though since the celica is lighter than the supra it wouldnt need to be that powerful). ive yet to see an all-trac listed in the wanted ad and ive been looking for over a year. it is a nice little car, but i have a sentra for a daily driver and am looking for something a step up. ill probably keep looking for a supra. thanx

the 4afe (sotck motor in it) sucks, the head isnt bad but the bottem end is the bad part, you could swap for a 4age or 4agze and net between 140-180 hp, but theres ALOT of potential in those motors/alot of aftermarket support
